Real heat: saunas & steam rooms a Finn or a Russian will enjoy
Dry cabins that actually get hot, steam rooms that steam, and a cold dip to finish the cycle. Every place below is open to the public — no resort room required.
Read this first. In Brazil, a plain web search for “sauna” mostly returns adult-only clubs — I excluded all of them. Also, Brazilian saunas run cooler than home (typically 60–80 °C, no löyly bucket, swimwear required). The places below are the closest thing to a proper Finnish/Russian cycle on the island: real heat plus a cold plunge, ocean, or thermal pool. Confirm price and hours by phone before you go — day-use spots stop selling when the hotel fills up.
The cycle — heat, shock, air, repeat
Four moves, run two or three times. Every venue below is graded against it.
1Löyly · парнаяHeat. Throw water on the stones if they let you — dry 70–90 °C or thick steam.
2PlungeShock. Into the cold pool or the ocean — thirty seconds to a minute is plenty.
3Air · restSit outside, breathe, drink water. Let the heat keep working from the inside.
4RepeatTwo or three rounds. That is the whole ritual — everything that follows serves it.

Sauna seca & úmida39 °C mineral poolsCold outdoor poolHydrotherapy baths
Heat & WaterFamous for hypo-thermal radioactive mineral water at 39 °C. Features indoor and outdoor thermal pools, private mineral bath tubs, dry sauna, and steam sauna.
Why it passesA quintessential historic thermal bath sanctuary. Alternating between the hot dry/steam chambers and cold spring dips mirrors the classical health resort rituals of Northern/Eastern Europe.
Bring: swimwear (mandatory, men wear shorts — no naked sauna here), flip-flops, your own towel, and a cap if you want the full парная head-cover move. Etiquette: Brazilians sit on a towel, keep voices low, and usually skip water-on-stones — ask staff before you throw löyly. Hydrate hard; most places sell water/ coconut water at the pool bar. Timing: weekend day-use at resorts sells out — call the day before. Winter (Jun–Sep) is actually the best sauna season: cool air, 18 °C ocean, empty hotels.
